Partnerships

The Asia Pacific Design Library

The Asia Pacific Design Library has partnered with the college to develop a series of toolkits and other resources that can be utilised by other schools wanting to incorporate design thinking into their teaching. Pimpama State Secondary College's strong focus on creating 21st century learners and using design thinking as a vehicle for skills development make it a natural choice for partnership with Design Minds.

Teachers from the college will share their experiences and learnings at Design Minds Professional Development workshops and contribute articles on the development of their design-led curriculum to the Design Minds website.

The partnership has also seen State Library of Queensland staff attend and present at our college’s inaugural  Design Immersion workshop. Held in August 2013, the three-day workshop encouraged students to investigate the idea of community and design using a design thinking process.

Design Minds will continue to work with Pimpama State Secondary College in the development of its design-led curriculum and the delivery of its Signature Design Program, creating resources to support other schools in developing 21st century learners through design education.

Queenslad University of Technology

Pimpama State Secondary College has partnered with The Cube to develop a series of toolkits and other resources that can be utilised by other schools to incorporate Video Game Design and Systems Thinking into their teaching. Through this partnership, students undertaking the PlayMakers elective in Year 9 will be able to access QUT academics as well as industry experts in the fields of Game Design, Robotics and Mobile technology throughout the year and participate in specialised workshops both at The Cube. In addition, College teachers from the Creative Industries faculty will co-design STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) learning experiences that embrace new technologies and 21st century  experiences.
