Pimpama State Secondary College offers a wide range of sporting opportunities for our students from fun and participation to competitive and representative for our aspiring and elite athletes.

Interschool Cluster Sport

The College belongs to the Northern Cluster for Interschool Sport which includes: Coombabah, Keebra, Tambourine Mountain, QAHS, UCSC, Nerang, and Pacific Pines. Students pick from a range of different sports to train and compete in for their school. The competition is spread out over 5 days in semester 1 and culminates in the Gold Coast finals. The College has participated with strong numbers in this competition and has seen a number of teams qualifying for the GC finals in the last few years.

Extra Curricular Sport (ECS)

The ECS program runs outside of curriculum time and is designed to offer students the opportunity to train and compete for a specific sport. Sports on offer include Rugy League, Athletics (Sprinting only), Basketball, Touch Football and AFL. These sports are coached by qualified teacher-coaches either during lunch breaks, before or after school. ECS teams will be offered strength and conditioning training, skills and game coaching and the opportunity to represent the College at inter-school competitions.

College Sporting Carnivals

We have three College carnivals over the course of the year: Cross Country in Term 1, Athletics in Term 2 and Swimming held usually in Term 4. College Carnivals are full of colour and fun where participation and House Spirit is of high importance. Students are encouraged to represent their House with pride and take part to the best of their ability in the spirit of the College motto “Together We Succeed”. Through nominations and participation in the carnivals, our top athletes are chosen to represent the school at the District Trials. A number of our students have qualified for Regional and even State Trials in the last few years.

Representative Sport
The College belongs to the Pacific Rim District. At the start of the year, the representative sport calendar is released with all sport trial dates for the year. Students wishing to attend District Trials for any sport, are required to sign up at the start of the year or register their interest at least two weeks prior to the trial date with the Sports Coordinator.
Students that register their name to attend a trial, will be sent details and be entered to participate.
Once a student has registered, it is important that they attend the trial or notify the Sports Coordinator should they be absent. Students attending must ensure that they download a South Coast Booklet and get it signed by the Principal. The South Coast Booklet must go with you to the Trial.
