At Pimpama State Secondary College, we are proud to be a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. PBL is an educational framework that helps create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Our commitment to PBL is guided by our core values:
- Look After Yourself
- Look After Each Other
- Look After This Place
These values are the foundation of our school culture and shape how we interact and work together as a community.
To make these values meaningful and practical, we have established clear behavioural expectations that define what it means to be engaged in learning at Pimpama State Secondary College. These expectations are outlined in our whole-school approach to being respectful, responsible and safe—Our Expectations: Pimpama Learner.
These expectations are explicitly taught during Pride Time, through Pride TV, and consistently reinforced across all areas of school life. Through proactive strategies that build and maintain positive relationships, we help students understand how these values translate into everyday actions—whether they are in the classroom, participating in extracurricular activities, or engaging with the wider community.
Recognising and celebrating positive behaviour
Acknowledging and celebrating positive behaviour is a vital part of our approach. Our staff are committed to recognising students who demonstrate our core values, using a range of strategies from verbal praise to special awards.
Some of the ways we celebrate positive behaviour include:
- PBL Pride Points
- Pride Badges (new for 2025)
- Positive Postcards
- Junior Certificate of Education
- Academic Celebration Certificates
- End-of-Year Celebration Excursion for Years 7 to 9
- End-of-Year Academic Awards
These initiatives encourage students to keep striving for excellence while fostering a culture of respect, recognition and appreciation across our school.
Continuous improvement
Our commitment to students and the broader school community is reflected in our focus on continuous improvement. We work to ensure our approach remains responsive to the evolving needs of our students and community.
At Pimpama State Secondary College, PBL is more than a framework—it brings our values to life. It drives our commitment to a respectful, responsible, safe and learning-focused environment where every student is supported to achieve their best.
